His latest YouTube session, filmed at an Akatsuki event, showcases how he creates atmosphere and connection in live settings. We caught up with Renzo to discuss the inspiration behind his performance, the intention behind his music, and what’s next on his journey.
Hi Renzo Zong, how’s it going?

To begin, how would you describe the experience of performing at the Akatsuki event? What did the night mean to you personally?
Since my school days, I’ve been connected to music through dance and artistic activities. My nomadic lifestyle has made music a core part of my life, influenced by the various experiences and places I’ve encountered. I began with Deep House, transitioned into Tech House, and explored Downtempo and Ambient music, which allowed me to experiment with atmospheric sounds. I was also drawn to Organic House for its blend of ethnic and natural elements. Right now, I’m focused on Afro House, a genre that lets me connect with tribal rhythms and delve into raw, intense sounds.
What inspired the recording and release of this live video?
I aimed to capture the energy of my live performance and the connection with the audience, showcasing people dancing along with me. This video is also part of Akatsuki, the new brand I’m developing. Sharing it on YouTube helps more people discover my work and connect with my sound, even if they haven’t seen me perform live.
Before the event, did you have a direction in mind for how you wanted the set to evolve?
I wasn’t sure how it would unfold; I just went with the flow while browsing through my folders.
When preparing your set, what were you looking for in the tracks you selected? Were you aiming to tell a particular story, reflect a certain mood, or highlight specific influences through your choices?
When preparing my set, I have organized folders with the styles and sounds I enjoy. I listen to the music in the moment and select tracks that resonate with the vibe and flow I want to create at that time.
For you, how do you feel this DJ set brings your signature style to life?
This set embodies my essence. Every track I chose reflects my style and the energy that defines me. It felt like a mix of everything I’m passionate about.
When it comes to pacing and designing immersive experiences through your DJ sets, what does your approach look like?
My approach is very dynamic. I navigate through different sounds, sometimes more tribal, other times romantic, dark, ethnic, explosive, or Latino. There’s a bit of everything! I aim to keep the energy shifting to make each moment unique.
What do you hope people take away from watching your performance — especially those who might be seeing or hearing you for the first time?
I hope people connect with the performance’s energy and enjoy the music authentically. For newcomers, I want them to leave with a feeling of excitement and freedom.
Were there any surprises or moments during the performance that unfolded differently than you’d anticipated?
No surprises; everything went as planned.
Finally, you’ve hinted at new studio work on the horizon — can you share any details on what we can expect to hear from you next?
After a long period, I’m finally releasing new music! This time it’ll be through one of my favorite labels, MoBlack Records.
