From its humble beginnings as a friends’ gathering, Showcation has transformed into one of the most talked-about events in the Northeast.
If you’re a raver in the Northeast and active on Instagram, you’ve probably come across targeted ads for Showcation. After spotting the festival lineup during my daily scroll, I was pleasantly surprised by the impressive roster of artists for a festival I had never heard of before. I quickly turned to Google to discover more about what seemed to be one of the best events of spring.
As a newcomer, Showcation is gearing up for its second year of inviting campers to its unique summer camp designed for adults. After its debut at Darlington, MD‘s Camp Ramblewood in 2024, the festival has upped the ante by featuring top-tier talent on its new main stage, introducing themed camps, and assigning counselors to camp teams for an unforgettable experience. Yet, before evolving into one of the year’s most anticipated events, Showcation was simply a retreat for friends.
COVID – The Spark for Innovation
Festival enthusiasts found themselves restless without the spectacular events that typically fill our calendars each year, and the Showcation team was no exception. After months of isolation, we all felt a loss of the sense of community and deep connections fostered by attending events with like-minded individuals.
In late 2020, this group of friends began organizing week-long retreats to satisfy the craving for shared joy in a COVID-safe environment. As attendance grew with each gathering, they shifted to one-night events aimed at creating an intimate festival-like atmosphere. Operating under the name Pretty Good Show, this New York-based event company launched unique gatherings across the globe.
After multiple smaller pop-ups, it became clear that to expand this venture, the ambitious group needed to gain experience. By seeking opportunities at Burning Man, Lightning in a Bottle, and Love Burn, the team acquired essential knowledge and connected with valuable contributors to help bring their vision to life.

Showcation – A New Take on Summer Camp
In February 2024, the Pretty Good Show and Showcation team announced their innovative festival on Instagram, designed to bring the joy of summer camp to adults. The inaugural year at Camp Ramblewood aimed to attract adventure-seekers from the East Coast for a getaway filled with live music, camp games, pool parties, and more.
Conveniently located near New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and DC, the festival’s location and imaginative theming captivated those eager to connect and enjoy a diverse lineup of artists. The festival became a resounding success, with attendees and DJs praising their unforgettable weekend.
As Showcation gears up for its second year of exhilarating programming, it has quickly become one of the most talked-about events on the East Coast. While last year focused on local talent, this year’s lineup features big names, including Feed Me and Justin Martin, gracing the lakefront main stage.

While music attracts festival-goers, there’s a significant emphasis on unique activities beyond the conventional festival experience.
“We aimed to create a multi-day event where music wasn’t the sole focus but one of many ways to connect and have fun,” said James Corcoran, Camp Director of Showcation. Featuring a diverse lineup of comedians and interactive experiences alongside a large-scale camp Olympics, Showcation has curated the ultimate three-day escape from reality.
What began as an ambitious idea among friends has blossomed into a standout festival on the East Coast. Emphasizing nostalgia and community-building, Showcation has transformed from a creative concept into a cherished tradition for those seeking carefree fun and connection in just one year. If its current trajectory is any indication, Showcation is just getting started.
