Tech house sensation Dom Dolla made a triumphant return to Denver with two unforgettable nights at Civic Center Park.
In the realm of electronic music, it’s well-known that Denver excels at bass music, earning its title as the “Bass Capital.” However, when Dom Dolla graced the stage at Civic Center Park on May 9-10, he showcased that Denver offers so much more. His performance reaffirmed that it is one of the premier scenes, if not the leading scene, in the United States.
This year, Dom opted for the spacious Civic Center Park instead of the iconic Red Rocks, a decision that may have disappointed some fans. Nevertheless, I appreciate when artists explore new venues. Additionally, given that one of his Red Rocks shows last year was canceled due to weather and relocated to Mission Ballroom, this choice seemed fortuitous.
I attended the second night of the event, and it exceeded my expectations. As a first-time visitor to Civic Center Park, I was impressed from start to finish. Entry was swift, and once inside, I found myself in a vast area shaded by lush trees, perfect for a beautiful 78-degree sunny day in Denver.
The music commenced at 4 p.m., and I arrived shortly after, allowing me to fully explore and soak in the venue’s atmosphere. I secured an excellent spot among the crowd, with the massive stage and the Denver City Council building as a backdrop, symbolizing a trial to confirm Denver’s status as a top-tier house music destination.
The support acts set the perfect mood from the beginning.
The lineup for my day was stellar, featuring option4, Girl Math (VNSSA b2b Nala), and Cassian. option4 was an ideal opener, perfectly setting the tone for the tech house masterclass that was about to unfold.
I had been eagerly anticipating Girl Math’s performance, and they did not disappoint. Their skill in reading the crowd and spinning the right funky tracks was a delight, and they quickly attracted a sizable audience. Dom even joined them on stage, much to the crowd’s excitement. As Girl Math played, the sun dipped behind the imposing City Council building, creating an idyllic atmosphere.
Cassian was a fantastic closer for the support acts, keeping the crowd dancing throughout his entire set. He was an artist I had wanted to see for quite some time, and his performance was thoroughly enjoyable, even extending a few minutes past his scheduled time.

Finally, it was Dom Dolla’s moment to shine.
Dom began his set five minutes early, launching into his hit track, “girl$.” The combination of high-quality production and a powerful tracklist got the crowd buzzing right from the start. The pivotal moment for me came about 15 minutes in when he dropped a mashup of Chris Lake‘s “Toxic” and Cloonee‘s “Stephanie,” sending the audience into a wild frenzy.
The spectacular visuals, including a large screen, pyrotechnics, and stunning lighting, complemented Dom’s set beautifully. The lasers projected onto the Colorado State Capitol building behind the crowd were a breathtaking sight. The full light display on the City Council building further enhanced the venue’s uniqueness.
Throughout his set, Dom played many of his well-known tracks, including “San Frandisco,” “Miracle Maker,” “Rhyme Dust,” and “Dreamin.” He also featured impressive tracks outside his discography, such as a techno remix of “Summertime Sadness” by Lana Del Rey, “She’s Gone, Dance On” by Disclosure, and the fresh hit “Appetite” from Chris Lorenzo.
In the last few minutes of his set, Dom surprised the audience with some drum and bass, much to the delight of everyone in the Bass Capital. This added significance as Dom announced he would be doing a back-to-back set with drum and bass legends Chase & Status at EDC Las Vegas on Friday.

Dom delivered an electrifying night, and the crowd matched his energy throughout.
Dom’s performance was exceptional, possibly my favorite out of the seven times I’ve seen the Australian icon. I was also thoroughly impressed by Civic Center Park as a venue and intend to return soon. Dom even shared on an Instagram post that the show set a new attendance record for concerts at that location.
As for the crowd, my experience was fantastic. I heard from attendees of the previous day that the crowd was less enthusiastic, but I encountered no such issues on day two. Many who attended both nights noted that the crowd on day two was much more vibrant, which aligned with my experience. It was a celebration in the audience that Saturday night, making it one of the best times I’ve had.
Earlier, I suggested that there was a trial to determine if Denver could solidify its status as a leading house music scene, and the answer is a resounding yes. The people of Denver came out in full force on that beautiful Saturday evening. No single genre dominated the night; rather, the entire Denver scene emerged victorious. My experience last Saturday was among my favorites in Denver, highlighting just how special the music scene is in this city.
