SOFI TUKKER is back with their latest album, butter, a vibrant tribute to Brazilian music and culture, reimagining beloved tracks with a soulful flair.
When one of the most exhilarating duos in dance music, SOFI TUKKER, transitions from the club scene to the beach, the result is butter— a jazzy and sun-kissed new album from the GRAMMY-nominated pair. Released on May 16, butter complements their 2024 release, the lively and playful BREAD.
Inspired by their 2018 hit with The Knocks, “Brazilian Soul,” the duo, Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern, recorded butter entirely in Brazil. They embraced the rich influences of bossa nova, samba, and beyond, which are beautifully woven throughout the album.
The lead single, “Bread” featuring Seu Jorge, was released on May 2, offering a glimpse of the elegant and refreshing tracks that follow. Additional singles like “Throw Some Ass” and “Spiral” showcase live instrumentation, enhancing the listening experience. In the lead-up to the album’s release, SOFI TUKKER shared an intimate short-form docuseries that provided behind-the-scenes insights into the project.
SOFI TUKKER is set to perform a special butter set at the Newport Jazz Festival and will bring their new sound to Las Vegas with a residency at Wynn, alongside a packed festival schedule.
